Solution Focused Hypnotherapy for childbirth can provide support to expectant mothers and their birth partners throughout pregnancy, not just when you are in labour. I provide hypnobirthing support in Devon and online.
The benefits of hypnobirthing for you
Something that worries pregnant women the most about childbirth is the pain. This can be a real problem as the worry about pain creates resistance in the uterine muscles, which in turn makes labour more difficult.
So the more relaxed and calm you are, the more strongly these muscles will contract.
I will teach you a number of helpful techniques to ensure that during your pregnancy and birth you are as calm, confident and in control as possible.
Our childbirth hypnotherapy sessions will include:
- Helping you to overcome any nervousness you may have about childbirth.
- Deal with any unhelpful beliefs or fears you may have, including de-traumatising previous experiences (or phobias) if necessary.
- Improve your sleep so you have higher energy levels during your pregnancy
- Help you to engage more fully with giving birth, so that you can remain focused and in control, and you feel more able to trust that your body knows how to give birth.
- Lower blood pressure and give you techniques for pain management.
- Self-hypnosis techniques to use throughout the birth.
Hypnobirthing benefits for your baby
Hypnotherapy also has advantages for your baby. If the birth is relatively calm, your baby will tend to stay calm, quiet and alert afterwards.
If the mother is calm, the baby will benefit from higher levels of oxygenation and reduced levels of stress hormones.
A calm birth also greatly assists with the bonding that takes place afterwards.
Can partners take part in hypnobirthing?
Yes. We can also help your birthing partner to be prepared and relaxed for the birth.
They can join you during the sessions and learn the hypnobirthing techniques you will use, as well as how to use trance to help keep you calm and relaxed during the birth.
This will enable your partner to take an active and supportive role, and provide strength and assistance throughout the birth.
What do hypnobirthing sessions involve?
You will receive a free trance (digital or CD) at the initial consultation to get the process started and improve your sleep.
After a few sessions, we will provide a specific childbirth trance (digital or CD), which will allow you to learn and practice the self-hypnosis techniques you will use during the birth.
The sessions will be informative and positive, allowing you to move forward and prepare not only for the birth, but also for parenthood.
