Hypnosis for Addiction
There are many different forms of addictions and it is possible to become ‘addicted’ to any number of things. The most frequent addictions are to alcohol, drugs (prescription or recreational), gambling, gaming, shopping, and sex. Addiction to social media is now becoming a recognised problem.
When we are addicted to something, we feel an urge or a compulsion to continue to repeat that particular behaviour although we are often aware that it is not healthy or helpful to our well being, maybe even damaging.
Understanding Addiction
Each time we engage in that particular behaviour that we know is not helpful to us, we are making an emotional choice. Often we get an instant pleasure from that behaviour, even though we know we will come to regret it later.
Or we might feel that we simply cannot function without doing that particular thing.
How can hypnotherapy help with addiction?
With hypnotherapy, we can start to re-evaluate these emotional choices.
By reducing some of the stress in general but also stress associated with the problem, it allows us to see things more clearly and often reduce the compulsion to act a certain way.
